The long, cold ride over Mt. Holly didn’t cool down the Leland and Gray Boys JV team as they sizzled out of the starting gate and easily handled an enthusiastic West Rutland squad. Pressure defense and a fast pace pushed the junior Rebels to a 19-8 first quarter advantage and they never looked back. Pete Thaimuangphol led all scorers with 17 points and all players with 13 letters in his surname. Jake Wilkins was in every passing lane and Aaron Claussen was tenacious on the ball. Adam Culver provided an unexpected burst of energy in the second quarter as the Rebels extended the lead to 14. Leland and Gray’s ability to find gaps the Golden Horde 2-3 zone allowed them to coast to the win, outscoring West Rutland in every frame. Next up for the Leland and Gray Boys is a home game Monday vs Otter Valley.
